Philip Lymbery is a global advocate for sustainable, equitable, healthy and resilient food systems. As Global CEO of Compassion in World Farming International, he leads the world’s foremost organisation dedicated to farm animal welfare and food systems transformation, operating in over 40 countries.

Philip has been deeply engaged in high-level food system reforms, serving as an official Champion for the UN Food Systems Summit in 2021 and more recently, as a member of the UN Food Systems Advisory Board.

In 2024 he was appointed by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to represent animal welfare at the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of EU Agriculture.

He is President of Eurogroup for Animals, the federation of more than 100 leading animal welfare societies in Europe and beyond, a founding Board member of the World Federation for Animals and Visiting Professor at the University of Winchester.

Philip’s work promotes holistic, systemic change – championing regenerative agriculture and One Health approaches that recognise the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental wellbeing.

Besides being  a highly respected and sought after global speaker, he is also celebrated author, photographer and naturalist, his acclaimed books – Farmageddon: The true cost of cheap meat (Bloomsbury, 2014), Dead Zone: Where the wild things were (Bloomsbury, 2017) and Sixty Harvests Left: How to reach a nature-friendly future (Bloomsbury, 2022) – have shaped global discourse on the environmental, health, and ethical impacts of industrial farming, while advocating nature-positive solutions for a resilient future.
