WELCOMING COMPASSION’S NEW GLOBAL AMBASSADOR, LEAH GARCES
I am pleased to announce the return of Leah Garcés to Compassion in World Farming as our Global Ambassador.
Formerly our first executive director in the US and more recently, CEO at Mercy for Animals, we are excited to welcome Leah back in this newly created role designed to grow a broad-based movement for an end to factory farming.
Focusing on growing a broad-based movement for change, thought leadership, and cultivating the next generation of leaders, the role is at the forefront of our strategic programme.
Key to success in ending factory farming will be mobilising a strong and diverse movement that reflects the different facets of society, including farmers, faith leaders, communities, political voices, health and environmentalists, as well as those driven by animal welfare. As will nurturing new leaders and ensuring that our narrative resonates with the widest possible audiences.
As our Global Ambassador, Leah will therefore play an instrumental role in creating the change so urgently needed for animals, people and the planet.
In taking up this new role, Leah shared: “I am hugely excited to start on this new path as Global Ambassador at Compassion in World Farming. This is a new position, and one I hope serves the whole movement. I’ll be within the warm embrace of an organization that gave me my first job in this movement and continues to inspire and motivate me every day. I’m grateful beyond words for the career planning grant from Coefficient Giving that allowed me to work out where I’m best suited to help in the global effort to end factory farming at this unique time in our movement’s history.”
Leah comes to the role with a wealth of experience in the animal welfare movement and a proven track record as thought-leader and strategist. Her books include Grilled: Turning Adversaries into Allies to Change the Chicken Industry and Transfarmation: The Movement to Free Us from Factory Farming.
The role is funded for 2 years by Coefficient Giving. It has been fashioned from key findings from Leah’s 2026 Strategic Gap Analysis of the Farmed Animal Protection Movement, and Compassion’s Strategic Plan 2026-2030.
I am greatly looking forward to resuming our work together with Leah and am excited in anticipation of the strides we’ll take for a better world for animals both farmed and wild.
